COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION ANODES, CADMIUM
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for cadmium anodes to be used in electroplating processes.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The anodes shall be of the following styles. The style to be furnished shall be specified in the acquisition order (7.2).
Style 1 Ball anodes
Style 2 Oval anodes
Style 3 Rectangular anodes
Style 4 Round anodes
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Dimensions. The dimensions of the anodes shall be any user-acceptable dimensions available from the manufacturer's standard anodes products for any specified style and shall be specified in the acquisition order (see 7.2). The anodes shall be cast, rolled to size, or cut to size from
electro-refined metal, castings, or rolled plate.
3.2 Materials. The anodes shall be made of solid cadmium metal containing a minimum of 99.90 percent by weight cadmium determined in conformance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E1282, "Standard Guide for Specifying the Chemical Compositions and Selecting Sampling Practices and Quantitative Analysis Methods for Metals, Ores, and Related Materials".
